Newsletter #4 - New Years' Graces
J.M. + J.T.
A Very Happy New Year and Blessings for your Families for 2016!
This is the time of year we look backward to the wonderful memories of the previous year, and forward with expectation to the blessings to come in the new year. We celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, the Presentation of Our Lord, and on New Year’s Day we celebrate the Mother of God in a most special way. May all the blessings of this great Christmas Season, and the hope and promise for a great new year, be with you and your family.
This Christmas, I decorated the beautiful statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with blue lights. We draped the lights as if they were pouring out of Our Lady’s hands and arms, and flowing like watery grace down onto the earth, as the lights filled the garden bed at her feet. It looked just like her grace pouring down on our world. I pray that her grace does indeed pour down on our little place here in Georgetown, that people will remember this little monastery, and that all the endeavors of the Auxiliary this year will be met with enthusiasm and success.
Meeting, January 9th, Saturday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
This is a very important meeting, as we will be discussing the fundraiser we intend to have this year. All of your input is important! We have to decide all of the particulars relating to holding an event of this nature: date, location, venue, theme, chairpersons. To this end, I would like everyone to pray a Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, beginning on December 31st. I’ve included the Novena below, or you can find this Novena on the Web at http://www.catholic-church.org/apcarmel/novena.htm.
Please don’t think of this fundraiser as another burden for your already full schedule. Think of it as an opportunity to make new dear friends, to have a good time in an unexpected way, and to do good where it is most needed. The people involved so far in this Auxiliary are some of the finest people I have met; and I look forward to meeting and getting to know even more fine people who want to help. Please RSVP if you plan on coming on Jan. 9th to this meeting.
Quilting News:
After the meeting for the fundraiser, we will be working on the quilt, again in the Caretaker’s House. I will have lunch for those who are staying to sew. RSVP for this please so I know who is going to be staying for the day to work. Just as a reminder, we are planning on raffling off the quilt at our fundraiser.
In Christ,
Patty MacEgan
